Russell Brand Released From Custody‎!

Russell Brand has been released from police custody, following his arrest for two counts of criminal damage in New Orleans, after he threw a photographer's camera phone through the window of a nearby law firm.

The British actor turned himself in on Thursday, March 15, after a warrant was issued for his arrest; at the time the warrant was issued for a misdemeanor for criminal damage to property in the amount of $700.

The actor allegedly took the iPhone of a photographer who began filming Brand as he left a local hot-spot in New Orleans. The actor then “wrestled” the phone out of the photographers hand, and threw it through the window of a law firm.

Despite reports that Brand will face two years in prison for the incident, he has, in fact, been released. Brand posted his $5,000 bail and his representatives paid $240 to replace the paparazzi’s phone.

Brand is currently in the city filming for an as yet untitled movie but will next be seen in the film adaptation of Rock Of Ages, which also stars Tom Cruise as aging rocker Stacee Jaxx.
